Benefits of Drinking Lemon Water

In this month’s What’s Eating You Q&A, we shared our answer to a commonly asked question regarding the health benefits of drinking lemon water.  In our cooking programs, we always have an infused water being prepared and it intrigues many participants as to why we do it.

Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning helps kick start digestion, flush out toxins from the body, supports the liver, and boosts energy and mood.  Its Vitamin C content will support your adrenals which can potentially help reduce the affects of stress.  On average we need about 12 cups worth of H2O each day to stay hydrated.

When preparing lemon water, it’s best to add the lemon juice to room temperature or warm water — start with half a lemon’s worth of juice.

Some of the amazing benefits of lemon water are:

  • Purifies the blood
  • Boosts the immune system
  • Improves digestion
  • Reduces body acidity
  • Soothes sore throats
  • Reduces heartburn
  • Helps improve liver funtction
  • Rejuvenates skin and body healing
  • Helps shed pounds
  • Regulates bowel movements
You get the benefits of lemon water whenever you drink it, but sipping on it in the morning will kick-start your day. Try a glass about a half hour before breakfast; the lemon juice in your belly will help your body absorb your breakfast nutrients better.
