Food Skills & Nutrition Educator
Shelby is a recent graduate from St. Francis Xavier University (StFX), where she received a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition. During her time in university, she competed in a food innovation contest called “Mission Impulseible” where her and her partner took second place overall in the Maritimes. This opportunity led to packaging of their energy bar and to it being sold in farmer’s markets around Nova Scotia. Throughout her studies, she also had the opportunity to work on various projects, that included creating recipes, participating in food demonstrations and leading talks on food security in rural Nova Scotia and across Canada. Shelby’s passions include food security, sports nutrition, and public policy initiatives moving towards making healthy food choices the default choice. During her spare time, Shelby can be found at her local gym, running along the beautiful trails in downtown Calgary, brainstorming new ideas in the kitchen, or enjoying a day out in the mountains.
